I’m a bit late in getting this post up, but I’ve been meaning to share our recent long weekend in Stinson Beach. Our close friends invited us to hang at their summer rental in Stinson Beach for a few days since we were going to be in the Bay Area for a wedding. Stinson Beach is a small beach community about 45 minutes north of San Francisco.
We were wavering on the invitation, mainly because the thought of hauling the kids and all our stuff to another location sounded tiring. I’m so glad our laziness didn’t get the best of us because we had the most serene, relaxing, nature filled and yummy trip ever. It was so special to just pause our lives (although I did have to take a conference call one day) and spend quality time with our friends Sonya and Eugene and their beautiful children. It was wonderful just to enjoy our friends – really catch up with each other and spend time with each other. We had no plans of any kind any day and it was glorious.
We stayed in an area called Seadrift in Stinson Beach and the house abuts the Bolinas Lagoon Nature Preserve – each moment was absolutely breathtaking. I felt like we were in a nature movie. Hundreds of thousands of birds (I’m guessing the number) live in this preserve and you literally sit and watch them and their local migratory and feeding patterns all day. Ellington and Sienna were mesmerized. Ellington was completely into playing in the sand and watching the birds, the water and the sunsets. We rode bikes, kayaked, cooked, drank, laughed and spent quality time together.
Get ready for the photos.
My boys
Games, snacks, sun and sand
The daily local migration and feeding patterns of the black rail birds
Hanging with Aunt Sonya – these two both love puzzles
A little one on one time with my first born on my born day.
When I walked in from my day date at the beach with Ellington – I walked into this aaaamazing spread.
The highlights for me were the buratta with drizzled olive oil and fresh pepper, leftover salmon locally caught in Bolinas the day before and that manchego cheese.
Sonya hooked it UP!
Sonya and her daughter Mica watched the kids while Lateef and I had a quick dinner out alone (amazing friends). when we got back Sonya made my favorite – strawberry tart – and Mica made me a birthday cake made out of rice crispy treats. It was a good day.
Trying to get a photo together in front of this amazing backyard
The only picture I got with my bestie Sonya. we’re half cut off and looking crazy, but i love it just the same. she’s one of those special people that touches every single person she meets. i love her to the moon and back.
